I taught my first woodcarving workshop at Bryn Mawr College, then another one at Oberlin College, then I got a grant to teach a group of highschool kids who did really good, then more grants. I've learned that anyone, weather they have "artistic ability" or not can learn to carve. The Oberlin College English major (above) carved her Earth Goddess in five days.
When I told the students to carve something environmental because we were having our exhibition in the Environmental Building on campus, this student decided to do a specific leaf. We had a hard time rolling her log into the studio. When finished it weghed about 5 pounds.
